ICE Must Release This Father and Refugee from Detention NOWIt is critical that Alex be released to his community. It would be inhumane and incomprehensible if he was deported back to the country he was forced to leave due to torture after the Civil War in Sierra Leone.145 of 200 Signatures

Follow the DHS Guidelines & Release Israel ArrascueAlong with the video, Lily shared the following: "We are asking for his immediate release. Please contact the ICE office in Seattle and ask for a full review of Israel's request for prosecutorial discretion. Israel's physical and mental state has deteriorated, he suffers from depression and extreme anxiety, asthma and other illnesses caused by the poor quality of life in detention, yet he continues to fight. Not only for himself, but also for all his fellow detainees. Our daughter was unable to make a video because she suffers from severe depression since her father has been gone. Two years gone means that he has missed 2 of her birthdays, and this might be the 3rd Christmas away from family. Our wish is for him to be home now, in time for Christmas." If ICE continues to reject cases like Israel's, it will send the clear message to all that the new guidelines are merely for show, rather than real protections, and that ICE is refusing to comply with DHS protocol.704 of 800 Signatures

Demand Governor Newsom Stop the ICE Transfer of Incarcerated Survivor Gabriela Solano!Gabriela came to California with her parents as a Lawful Permanent Resident from Mexico when she was a two-year-old child. Her parents worked full time raising Gabriela and her two siblings in El Monte, California. Facing peer pressure, she began sporadically using drugs and skipping school. Eventually, she ran away from home and began experiencing relationship violence. At 18 years old, she met someone who would inflict extreme physical and emotional abuse for the next 8 years. By her 26th birthday, Gabriela tried to leave the relationship but, like many survivors, felt afraid and stuck. A few days later, Gabriela’s boyfriend coerced her to drive him and his friends to steal a car. Later that night, the friend of Gabriela’s boyfriend started an argument with a pedestrian walking by that to Gabriela’s horror quickly escalated to a fight and a murder. Gabriela’s boyfriend threatened her with violence if she went to the police to report. Although Gabriela did not kill anyone or have any intent to harm or kill anyone, she was unfairly charged with murder under the Felony Murder Rule. At trial, the jury was blocked from hearing from domestic violence experts on how years of abuse had prevented her from leaving. Gabriela was sentenced to Life Without the Possibility of Parole (LWOP) and an additional 25 years to life. Despite this devastating course of events, Gabriela spent the last 20 years seeking positive change for herself and for others. Gabriela worked hard to heal from the longstanding effects of her own trauma. She took over 1,000 hours of rehabilitative classes and volunteered to support fellow incarcerated survivors through the Walk of Love project. She obtained an outside counselor for substance abuse and is going on 21 years of sobriety. Using her training in office services, she served as a clerk for over 12 years and earned a GED, an A.A. degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences, and received her second A.A. in Liberal Arts in December 2020. Gabriela wants to be a social worker to help prevent kids from going down the road she did, and serve as an interpreter to support limited English speakers at the consulate or a courthouse. In December of 2018, in recognition of her commitment to service, mentorship, and rehabilitation, former Governor Brown commuted Gabriela’s sentence to 20 years to life. However, due to Gabriela’s immigration status and her conviction, Gabriela will be automatically arrested by ICE on her release date. Governor Newsom and CDCR have no legal obligation to work with ICE, and yet California Governors and CDCR have a history of cooperating with ICE. This inhumane practice must end now. Urge Governor Newsom to #StopICEtransfers and release Gabriela to the care of her family and community. Gabriela loves languages, 90’s music, and sewing. She is a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and valued community leader. Our communities in California have so much to gain from her courageous empathy and leadership. For more updates on the fight to #FreeGabby and how you can take action to support, follow us on Twitter @survivepunish. * Due to Gabriela’s exemplary rehabilitative record and the circumstances of her excessively harsh Life Without the Possibility of Parole (LWOP) sentence, the Governor reduced or granted her a parole eligible date so that she would have a chance of earning parole through the parole board hearing process.2,607 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Survived & Punished

Stop the Deportation of Ana Adan CajigalICE and LaSalle—the for-profit prison corporation that runs Irwin County Detention Center—are under federal investigation for their role in the systematic medical abuse of people incarcerated by ICE. That medical abuse includes coercive, painful, and life-altering gynecological procedures. ICE is attempting to deport the survivors and witnesses who have the knowledge that the investigation needs to hold ICE accountable. In September, Nurse Dawn Wooten blew the whistle on ICE and LaSalle’s medical abuse and complete failure to protect people in their custody from COVID19. In a report released by Project South and the Government Accountability Project, she exposed Irwin County Detention Center’s (ICDC) partnership with a doctor pressuring women into accepting painful, life-altering, and unnecessary gynecological procedures, including hysterectomies. The women detained at ICDC have continued to speak out about the use of medical neglect and torture at ICDC for-profit and punishment. Independent medical professionals have since reviewed dozens of medical records and uncovered a pattern of coerced, painful, and life-altering violence against the bodies of incarcerated women who are disproportionately Black and brown. Some women still do not know what was done to their bodies. They only know they did not want it or ask for it. ICE and LaSalle hope the election will pull our attention away from these abuses for long enough to escape accountability. They deny women the opportunity to meet with doctors who might help them understand what has been done to their bodies. Not only that, but ICE and LaSalle are conspiring to deport the survivors and witnesses of their crimes for participating in the ongoing investigation. We will not allow ICE to retaliate against and disappear the survivors of their crimes or witnesses in the investigation. ******You Can Act****** * 1a. Email Field Office Director (FOD) Thomas P. It is completely unacceptable for ICE to deport survivors and witnesses in the middle of a federal investigation. It reveals how ICE is actively trying to prevent their testimony from making it into the record. * 2. When you’ve made your call and sent your email, find three friends and ask them to do the same. Stop Pauline's DeportationI respectfully request that you exercise discretion and grant Ms. Pauline Binam’s request to stay in the United States as investigations are underway into the harm she experienced during her time at the Irwin County Detention Center (ICDC) in Georgia. While at ICDC, doctors performed gynecological surgery and removed parts of her reproductive organs without Ms. Pauline Binam’s consent. She is scheduled to be deported tomorrow, just as we are learning that she was not the only woman in the Georgia detention center who was subjected to invasive surgery without her knowledge. Pauline still suffers from health complications as a result of her surgery, and her ability to have children has been drastically reduced. It is appalling and robs Pauline of the justice seeks to deport her in light of these revelations. Pauline is a loving and committed mother. While in detention for nearly three years, she has missed four of her daughter’s birthdays. She is a longtime resident of the U.S., having immigrated from Cameroon when she was 2 years-old. She graduated from high school and attended University of North Carolina-Charlotte before needing to quit school to take care of her sick father. She's also a survivor of three brutal and toxic relationships that led her through dark times. At a time when Pauline was resetting her life to focus on her daughter she was placed in immigration detention. While in detention, she suffered irreversible harm due to the cruel treatment of a doctor who is currently being investigated by the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Homeland Security. With new information coming to light every day and the ongoing investigations into the crimes committed against Pauline and other women who suffered injuries such as hers, we ask that you halt Pauline’s deportation and release her to her family during this difficult time.2,977 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Van H.

Justice for Bernardo Palacios CarbajalBernardo Palacios Carbajal, 22, was shot in the back over 30 times while he was fleeing from police officers moments after yelling his last words “Officer, I don’t want to die!” Seconds later officers proceeded to shoot him after he was dying on the ground. Instead of offering medical assistance after shooting him, officers yelled for him to “Show us your fucking hands!” Then his body was desecrated by having all his fingers shot causing some of them to become partially disconnected from his hands. We DEMAND justice for Bernardo. The lack of meaningful action from the District Attorney's Office and Salt Lake City's Mayor, reveals an implicit backing of SLCPD's killer cops. Until all these demands are met, justice for Bernardo will not be served. Until there is deliverance of Justice for Bernardo, and all peoples brutalized and killed by the police force, there can be no peace.1,774 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Rose Park Brown Berets and Just Media Utah -.

Chicagoans Say "No New CPD Gang Database"Last April, the city opened up public comments on the CPD's proposal to implement a new gang database. The comments obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request show major discontent on CPD's plans to implement a new gang database. Alternatively, an overwhelming number of suggestions point to the need for solutions that center investment in public education and mental health resources instead of more systems of biased surveillance and criminalization. Last year, the Chicago office of Inspector general also published a partial audit of the Chicago Gang Database, confirming the information that community organizations have been highlighting for years: That it mostly targets Black and Latinx people (at 95% of the list), that it shares information with over 500 agencies, and that instead of being a tool to make communities safer, it is used to criminalize, intimidate, and denigrate Chicagoans. In response, the Chicago Police Department stated that they will only comply with a partial list of the recommendations, by creating a new gang database that is supposed to follow the guidelines but ignoring any grievances of people for the current gang database, with plans of continuing to share the inaccurate data with over 500 agencies indefinitely. Simply put, the research shows that we should not trust the police department to create a new gang database, without oversight, without input from experts, and against the recommendations from the Inspector General. There has been no guarantee that the issues identified with the Gang Database won't be replicated in the new one. Investigate Metro Nashville Police Department Collaboration with ICEOn Monday July 22nd, ICE agents attempted to detain a father and son in Hermitage. ICE agents called Metro Nashville Police Department and requested assistance in detaining the family, and Nashville Police Officers. The police officers stood by ICE for several hours as the father and son refused to exit the van. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE: https://www.facebook.com/mixnashville/videos/2105602209734333/ At one point ICE agents intimidated the father and son by stating that if they didn’t exit the vehicle- they would have Nashville police officers arrest him, saying, “We’ll just call the cops and they’ll arrest you, and then when they’re done with you in the jail, then we’ll get you”, and threatening to come back for his wife. You can watch this video that was recorded by the courageous dad while he was surrounded by ICE. We demand an investigation of Metro Nashville Police Department's decision to accompany ICE. After Monday’s thwarted ICE arrest, Metro Nashville Police Department, along with Mayor Briley, released a statement saying the presence of Metro Police served as crowd control and as a “peacemaker”. We know from video accounts and statements of our responders that MNPD showed up when ICE called them to assist with the arrest, long before there was a “crowd”. Additionally, MNPD repeatedly and falsely informed responding friends and neighbors that ICE had the correct warrant, when they did not. The actions by Metro Nashville police officers go against MNPD stated policy, which indicates the department does not actively collaborate with ICE. We demand an audit of MNPD practices that waste Metro Government resources by deploying public servants in acts of terror against the communities and neighborhoods they serve. We also are calling on Metro Nashville Council Members to vigorously pursue policy changes that will prevent further cooperation between MNPD and ICE that puts Nashville families at risk. It does not serve the safety of our neighborhoods for our local law enforcement resources and personnel to be deployed in support of a deportation campaign against immigrant members of Nashville’s communities. Tell Mayor Anthony Williams to Defy Trump, Defend Abilene, & Expand SanctuaryDonald Trump just announced executive action that threatens any city that seeks to protect immigrant residents from his deportation machine. What he’s trying to do is roll back the leaps forward we’ve made in recent years but we won’t let him. In 2017, it’s the efforts to defend Black lives and protect migrant rights that make our cities safer, not Trump’s extra enforcement promises. To keep us safe, we need to evolve our local policies to make our cities real sanctuaries for all residents, not cancel them because of the illegitimate President's latest actions. That means a commitment to separating police from federal immigration enforcement AND addressing the policing that funnels Black and other residents to jail and places criminal charges on immigrant residents, making them a target for ICE agents. Tell our mayor and city council to stand up to Trump and take action that doesn't just symbolically defend immigrants, but transforms our city's policies to stop targeting us for imprisonment, risk of removal, and state violence at the hands of police and aggressive immigration agents. The illegitimate President's threats should be cause to embolden our city leaders, not an excuse to abandon our potential progress.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Chris B.

Chicagoans Say "No New CPD Gang Database in Chicago"Last spring, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) took comments from the public on its proposed Criminal Enterprise Database (CED), beginning on April 11 through May 11, 2019. The comments obtained through the use of the Freedom of Information Act show major discontent with CPD’s plan to implement a new gang database. Alternatively, an overwhelming number of suggestions point to the need for solutions that center investment in public education and mental health resources instead of more systems of biased surveillance and criminalization. According to a memo prepared by the campaign to Erase the Gang Database, approximately 86% of the people who submitted comments opposed the creation of any database, including the Criminal Enterprise Database. A remaining 11% of the comments opposed the CED, but appeared open to the creation of a different database and 3% supported the CED as proposed by the law enforcement agency last year. Last spring the Chicago Office of Inspector General published a partial audit of the Chicago Gang Database, confirming the information that community organizations have been highlighting for years: That it mostly targets Black and Latinx people (at 95% of the list), that it shares information with over 500 agencies, and that instead of being a tool to make communities safer, it is used to criminalize, intimidate, and denigrate Chicagoans.
